Stories of Paraná - Race Day
Race Day
Luiz Ribeiro Spinato
Half a century ago, the small Curitiba stood on street corners.
Virtually everyone knew and theme, then obviously it was
War II had "captured" our GIs FEB (Brazilian Expeditionary Force). Manoel Ribas - the Maneco Machete - ruled the State with authority and austerity. And in this country for so many holidays, there was one decipherable by the current regime and ambiguous: sent troops to fight alongside the allies, but had interior colors dictatorial.
This holiday was the "Race Day", celebrated on September 4.

Luiz Neto Romaguera
Nearly a century separates us from the fratricidal days, in the words of Marshal Bormann in "Days fratricidal" experienced by our ancestors during the Federalist Revolution.
Some historians have written on the subject. There are books, not much read, reporting the facts experienced.
Among the stories told tale one.

For more than a decade
- Between 1972 and 1984 - the banks of the Paraná River were nearly a yard for fine reporting on the progress of construction of Itaipu.
During the period, exercised the leadership of the branch of Curitiba "See" (who worked on the 'View' has become accustomed - and do not know why - be "of" and not "give" See) and had the opportunity to follow news and happiness almost like a pawn all phases of major project.

D. Pedro II in Lapa
Sergio A. Leoni
The day May 31, 1880, a Monday, would be historic for the Lapa, as described by Joseph Savoy Cortes in an article published in December 1925 in the Gazette of the People.
On that date, to 18.30, after much anticipation and action by the community, came D. Pedro II, Empress Dona Teresa Cristina and her large entourage that in addition to several ladies, and maids of honor, still consisted of many distinguished personalities.

The bell of the chapel
Flora Muñoz Rocha
I remember when, for a time, the Souza attended the wheel mate back home on Sundays, where talk of politics out a constant.
It was an election year and Souza, stung by the blue fly, decided to apply for deputy.
Benedict was clear - campaign first timer without constituency consisted of work but redoubled, heart wished him good luck.
Souza bought a jeep.
Planned maps, itineraries.
Planned verbiage, promises and left the roads outside, behind the redoubts unexplored, fulfilling the arduous task which is imposed to garner votes.

Tragedies Coloradas
Ernani Buchmann
During the 18 years of its existence, the Colorado passed by almost all possible phases.
It was missing the stage victorious, completely victorious, because more or less victorious were many, including a 4x0 Flamengo, with Junior and all, for a national championship.
But first there was the phase of the runner-up - and they were many, until the fateful match against Coritiba in 1979. On that day, the end-of-left Santos Coritiba one Pernambuco who went through good times, was sent off after 10 minutes of the first half. What we saw from there was a massacre.

Said to have come to Brazil to exercise their profession lonely hermit and live in a cave near the iron works of Ipanema. The rest is legend, and good.

Does cures prescribing of a tea plant that even today people call "broom of Saint John Mary". Nothing snake accepts only food. Does not go into villages, or in the houses, houses in the woods, sleeping under trees, almost always next to a fountain.
The mestizos considered sacred place of rest and a holy water font remedy for all ills.

Stories of Paraná - That boy
That boy
Nivaldo Kruger
One night I left these out there, the streets walking, seeing the decorations hanging from the buildings burst of lights, the streets and squares bright symbolic trees, in many homes, gardens and facades, decorations glittering twine, multicolored, giving evening a festive look.
The city is spruced up and chaps for Christmas Baby Jesus.
The night was already advanced when the boardwalk, between the entrances of Hotel and Club, facing, feet found the ground desmangolado and outstretched hand, alone, asking, that boy.
Fey, lights flashed.
I looked and saw him still in his deep eyes reflected those sparkles seeming so distant ... other worlds ...
He looked at me, his boyish smile was tired, aged and tired expression that boy.
The sounds spilled club and club suits mingled strains of "Silent Night", coming from somewhere remembering the birth of another boy ...

Stories of Paraná - White Mustache
White mustache
Francisco Brito Lacerda
Windy.
It seemed that the world would end.
Peter was six.
He, his mother and father drove up a hill on the edge of the railroad, where stood the small cemetery.
Lush palm trees, facing the whitewashed wall, the wind blew.
In search of the iron gate, the three climbed the stone steps, the boy hand with her mother, who settled on the landing. "Stay very still, the mother will pray."
Exposed to swirl, he only looked back once.
He saw his mother kneeling alongside Cruz das Almas, trying to light a candle.
A train whistled and passed, the raging locomotive lay fa-gulhas by all noses.

The revolt Assaí
Luiz Garcia
Before the popularization of television, fun in the inner city had one name: Cinema.
Assam, in the north of Paraná, in 1961, was a fairly bustling city due to the cultivation and processing of cotton.
Had eight branches, many shops, bars even more. And two cinemas, Assam Cine and Cine White Gold.
The Cine Assaí was right in the center, opposite the Commercial Bank of Paraná, on Avenida Rio de Janeiro, the main city.
It was there that it occurred highly publicized at the time.
The Cinema had just undergone an overhaul that left no doubt very beautiful.
Patrons, however, it still pointed, rightly, two serious defects: had no emergency exit - which could cause a tragedy in any claim
- And, worse, the quality of the tapes was terrible.

But none of the colored and pinheirenses who once dreamed of uniting their fans, their colors and their assets could imagine that the chemical element generated by the fusion was so solid. The process fused red, white and blue showed indestructible
irreversible perennial.
Nobody will ever destroy this myth constructed by the union.

Nho Cipra
Valdevino Lopes
The District Uvaia, about thirty miles from the town of Ponta Grossa, already had its glory days.
It was around the '20s, a time when it was still called Uvaia Shells and had an economy firmly grounded
in planting oranges, making smoking in strings (the best "yellowing" of the entire region) and livestock.
The seat shells not much different from the others scattered throughout our Paraná, three hundred acres of productive land, a small church in the center with countless homes around, built of mud and wattle-and-daub, covered with tiles gouges.
Among the villas, one stood out: it was the mansion Cypriano Gomes da Silveira, born citizen in the district and had a whole life dedicated to the population that lives there.
Friend of all the besiegers became godfather to more than half of the children born there.
The prestige of Cypriano further increased among countrymen when, thanks to important friendships with political capital and local progress, achieved high political and administra-tive shells of simple Autonomous District to District.
