Before the popularization of television, fun in the inner city had one name: Cinema.
Assam, in the north of Paraná, in 1961, was a fairly bustling city due to the cultivation and processing of cotton.
Had eight branches, many shops, bars even more. And two cinemas, Assam Cine and Cine White Gold.
The Cine Assaí was right in the center, opposite the Commercial Bank of Paraná, on Avenida Rio de Janeiro, the main city.
It was there that it occurred highly publicized at the time.
The Cinema had just undergone an overhaul that left no doubt very beautiful.
Patrons, however, it still pointed, rightly, two serious defects: had no emergency exit - which could cause a tragedy in any claim
- And, worse, the quality of the tapes was terrible.

Would burst at any moment, angering the crowd, and the cuts made often took up the direction of the films.
On Saturday, announced the movie "Miracle", the house filled. There was no place to walk. The crash of the tape, but that day was too much.
The boos began, at first isolated, here and there, soon after generalized, almost in unison.
On resumption of the film, after another court, there was not enough to understand the plot.
The boos were replaced by a huge uproar. The administrator ordered the lights, went to the front of the screen and ran a scolding widespread in the audience, who shouted calling - almost all present - of kids. The atmosphere was heavy, but there was silence and the movie can end.
The next day, Sunday, from early morning isolated groups of boys began to gather here and there, commenting on the incident yesterday. "This movie well deserved payback," someone suggested.
Before long, several groups thinking the same thing, just for joining and planned revenge for that same day.
The night the film was replayed.
Again full house, but the way forward all the seats were occupied by the group that was organized during the day.
A respectful silence at the beginning of the film, despite the cuts.
When he arrived, however, the scene where the manager is exalted the day before, was as if a giant boiler burst.
First a general outcry. Then let off fireworks and firecrackers, fired dozens of cuttlefish eggs in all directions - for years still would see the marks on the white screen.
Chairs were broken, ripped curtains.
Appeared a vulture and a skunk that ran everywhere. And, of course, the stick loose.
The rush and the screaming continued up the stairs, toward the exit. The door, single, became too small for so many, and windows were broken chest. Outside, a small crowd of people, when they saw the riot, he tried to enter the "dance" well catching and hitting.
Even with the arrival of the police, were hours to get to normal.
When the riot finally stopped, it looked like a tornado had devastated the cinema.
Police mounted a survey, many were accused - including me - several times we had to go to the Forum.
But as this was a crowd reaction, the process came to nothing.
After that, the Cine Assaí needed to be reformed again, gaining an emergency door. And the quality of the tapes has improved significantly, even in cine rival.
Today, under the new times, the city has no cinema. The lesson of badernaço of Assam, however, remains: who does not hear the claim fair, may be forced to listen to the sound irrational revolt.
