Stories of Paraná - A whistle very uncomfortable

Stories of Paraná - A whistle very uncomfortable

A whistle very uncomfortable
Maria de Fatima S. Moraes

The fact that I will describe happened to my grandfather Francisco, in Paulo Frontin.
Italian immigrant, in 1925 he moved to Curitiba Paulo Frontin, where he married Dona Italy widow who already had six children, taking with it three more.
Learned man, intelligent, good principles, soon won admiration, respect and confidence of the people of the city and surroundings.

It is certain that one day very early, through Sawmill family as usual, was questioned by Polish Fidelis, in charge of the boiler and also to whistle, stating the hours and shift changes for employees, which was just proposing:
- "Nho Chico, you might as well arrange me a whistle as the Smoke that Maria always goes in the city station.
So I would like beeping because it is much more beautiful than this that nóis have here. "
His Francisco heard, no promises.
However, at the first opportunity that came to Curitiba asked a relative who worked his boss about the train whistle, getting it without any problems.
When he returned, handed it to the old Fidelis, which demonstrated a contagious joy.
Looked like a kid with a toy I ever expect to win.
As the days passed, however, the problems started. Was so delighted with his whistle, the old FIDEUS kept beeping all day.
Whistled and whistled at length, sometimes in the most inappropriate times, even leaving the entire city in an uproar.
Everyone wanted to excommunicate such vi-vente, no longer stand to hear the damn sound.
Some people more troubled by his entourage arrived in Francisco and requested action. His Francisco was then up to the boiler room.
Arrived gentle, very quiet as was his way, and trying to remedy the situation proposed to stoker:
- "Well Fidelis, you made much use of this whistle that should already be tired of it.
I will then make a good and fair proposal: kings paid five thousand more in your paycheck and you give me back the whistle. "
Fidelis thought and thought, scratched his neck and said to his master:
- "There! Nho Chico, because then you get me out of my five thousand kings ordained that I keep whistling".
They say that it was not easy to convince him, even explaining the consequences whistle brought to city dwellers. And only agreed, reluctantly and very sad, after a prolonged and sonorous farewell to his beloved whistle.
