Rattlesnake, know all, becomes a snake repellent, and the most poisonous. This does not make, the most beautiful names to christen a city.
Hence, many people still strange wonders why Rattlesnake, the city, eventually getting that name.
Presumably, at the time of commencement of the settlement, the region had so much foot snake soy today. The fact is that in November 1951, when it was elevated to municipality, twenty years after the pioneering Joaquim Silverio de Oliveira settle in the region, Rattlesnake had that name. And there are few who say that the climate of discord and violence that prevailed in the city in the 50s, until the name was quite appropriate.

Back in 1960, I was president of the Lions Club of Cascavel, a competitive meeting convened to discuss the matter.
If the city name bothered some, or many, that if debating the pros and cons of any change, and that a vote then the opportunity or not the Lions take the lead in conducting a public campaign for change for a name more compatible with the new times, with the progress and unity and the city then experienced.
The call cream of local society was represented there. What was decided would certainly serve to mark a campaign involving the rest of the population.
Or, if it were the case, would end there, and forever, swept discussion on the city name.
Barely finished speaking, leaving the floor to debate, got a full ouriçamento as never seen in my life.
Who has not stood up, raised at least one arm, all talking at the same time or indicating who wanted to talk.
To calm the assembly, had to use force with the symbol of authority Lions, which is the bell.
Then, as is customary in the Lions Club, gave the word to the Lion older at the time Dimas Pires Bastos, holder of the Clerk of the Property Registry.
Somewhat dour man who rarely used the word, Pires spoke curtly:
