Stories of Paraná - Suddenly, salvation

Stories of Paraná - Suddenly, salvation

Suddenly, salvation
João Carlos Calvo

One night there back in 1959, the inhabitants of a small town in northern Paraná were surprised too, because, as in the vicinity of 23 hours, an impertinent "snoring" tickets disturbed the silence of a quiet evening over the locality.
Airplane at that hour?
Some abnormalities were happening.
That's when one of the locals decided to try to find out what was going on, now with some suspicion of what was.
As it related to the COPEI, requested to be deleted the few existing bulbs in street lighting.
Immediately afterwards, called the battery of your vehicle to an electrical cable coupled to a powerful projector. And cast a very strong jet of light upward, often emphasized by the prevailing darkness.
Moments later, the plane, like a moth, "grew closer" to the light beam, as a sign that "heaven and earth" were linked in the same episode.
From below, the city dweller, with some knowledge of telegraphy and many amateur radio, started "telegraphing" a message after the aircraft radio did not respond to their calls.
Giving light signals, said something like: "Here this season, I could not contact him by radio, you're on location X".
Shortly thereafter, decreasing altitude, with the light from the tip of one wing came the reply: - "Thank you, friend."
This happened, the noise of the device was fading gradually until it disappears.
Concerned citizens of the small town called by telephone to Londrina.
He contacted a friend, who told the occurrence, and asked him to communicate with the airport and verify if the control tower had some information.
Soon after came the reply. The plane had landed recently, with everything in perfect order, thanks to his intervention proverbial. The captain of the plane was told that was lost, for the reasons I explained the technical airport. Not knowing where he was, because guidance systems and radio had broken, struggling, even with the intense fog and already imagined the need for an emergency landing.
So began the "run", there on high, to spend fuel.
Suddenly, salvation!
A citizen "head-cold" freed one unit of a probable disaster.
The commander, by phone tried the "savior" to thank: - "Thank you, Leoni Polatti engineer in my name, crew and passengers."
This fact had, at the time, highly publicized in the national press.
Served to disseminate, much the city, yet young lady, who was Apucarana.
