Unforgettable speech

Arriving Castro to assume the main burden of my medical career, the traditional and quiet city was all excitement and enthusiasm.
A climate of intense expectation swept the city, while it chendo anxieties.
Days magna importance were experienced by the population awaiting the official visit of Governor Manoel Ribas.
The event, with a date already very close, involved a carefully crafted plan-signification, in charge of numerous committees and sub-committees.
Authorities, persons grated, high figures of trade and industry, public officials and the "common people", all united for the success of certain unusual and celebrations.
Signing programming, lavishly distributed, Mayor, Major Vespasian Carneiro de Mello, His Honour Judge of the District, Dr. Humberto Grace, Commander of the 6th CATTLE, Cel.
Felinto ABAETÉ Cavalcanti, the Vicar of the parish, Father Nicholas Balthazar, the Promoter Heraclius Dr. Mendes de Camargo and over fifty distinguished personalities of military life.
The motivation was total and single subject.
Nothing else could be interesting beyond the coming of their Ribas, capital fact of all wheels, comments and confabulation.
After the big day! The "Dawn" by the band of the Military Police, the eve of arrival, started the festivities, waking the people with the vibrant chords of "Batista de Mello." Outdoor Mass at 8 am, sponsored by the ladies of Castro, with mor altar on the steps of the primary school and the square crowded with faithful prayers for Interventor.
Among them His Excellency. and entourage, Angelo Lopes, Gaspar Velloso, Antenor Pamphili dos Santos, Bichat de Almeida Rodrigues, Rosaldo Mello Leitão, many of Curitiba, and neighboring municipalities.
After the Mass, even in the square, the inauguration of the bust of Manoel Ribas.
This ceremony closely whetted my curiosity. And who has heard many stories about Interventor.
Absurd stories, hard to believe such exaggerations that portrayed his irreverence and blatant disregard of the rules of the protocol.
Now arose the opportunity to personally see and check everything: the behavior of your Ribas finally within my reach.
Peter Kaled, valedictorian, was realizing, loud and clear, his oration, before the statue has not yet unveiled.
Beside, the honoree seriously, staring at the crowd, huge, attentive, silent. "Your Excellency.
Mr. Governor has been for us and this land a true benefactor because it gave us the Preventório, benefactor because ... "
Still vibrating in the air the speaker's words when Manoel Ribas came thundering: "Benefactor not! Because work is the obligation of every Governor. And if he did more for Castro, was because of the stupidity and ignorance of all of you who need to know that trying to do something against me is the same as in pinching ox horn. E Let go hand to speak ill of President Getúlio Vargas, who is a good man and to be prestigious.'s it. " And without further ado, withdrew.
After the ceremony, the crowd was diluting the surroundings, while his Ribas perpetuated in bronze began to lighten up the sun at noon.
Lots and lots of speeches would hear later, the course of multiple solemnities and under various pretexts themes and purposes in different languages and occasions.
None of them, however, struck me that Manoel Ribas Castro on March 8, 1945, date of its 71 th anniversary.
